Tummy Tuck – Abdominoplasty

Get a firmer abdomen with a tummy tuck at our Caringbah or Bankstown day surgery

A tummy tuck – or abdominoplasty – is an excellent procedure for patients looking to remove excess skin, for example after pregnancy or weight loss. We can also repair abdominal muscle separation to help give a flatter appearance.

Lavida Cosmetic Medicine can perform a variety of abdominoplasty procedures according to your needs. This can allow us to balance your desired results with the least amount of recovery time. We offer the following tummy tuck options, which your doctor can discuss with you further:

  • Complete Abdominoplasty
An incision will be made from hip to hip, with a further incision to free the navel from the surrounding skin. Skin is then detached from the abdominal wall, allowing us to tighten the muscle fascia wall with sutures. Excess skin and fat will be removed, sometimes using liposuction. The old belly button stalk will be brought out through a new hole and sutured into place.
  • Partial Abdominoplasty
This procedure uses a smaller incision, and the skin and fat of the lower abdomen are detached in a more limited manner. If required, the belly button can be moved lower on the abdominal wall and abdominal muscle fascia can be tightened. Liposuction is often used to contour the abdomen as part of the procedure.
  • Extended Abdominoplasty
This is a complete abdominoplasty with extensions into the front of the thighs and/or flanks (sides).

Procedures are conducted in our fully accredited day surgery using the latest technology. A tummy tuck may be combined with liposuction, breast reductions and breast lifts. We also offer mini tummy tuck surgery

Frequently asked questions

  • How long does a tummy tuck take?
Depending on the size of the area being treated, you can expect the procedure to take four to five hours.
  • How soon can I return to work and exercise after a tummy tuck?
A tummy tuck will require patients to take two weeks off work. We advise against driving during this two week recovery period. Patients should wait six to eight weeks before returning to exercise. Many patients experience bruising and discomfort, and we recommend the use of a supportive abdominal binder or compression garment to minimise swelling and support the repairing tissue.
  • How long will the benefits of a tummy tuck last?
Results duration are dependent on patient lifestyle factors.
  • What costs can I expect?
We will discuss procedure costs during your free consultation and make sure you are fully aware of the details of our fee structure.
