Further Questions answered on Liposculpture & Liposuction.

What is Liposculpture?

Liposculpture is a major refinement of the technique Liposuction. This is when unwanted fatty deposits are removed through a small incision using a canula and low pressure suction. Before suction is commenced a local anaesthetic solution is infused to numb the tissues. This solution also vastly reduces the amount of bruising after the procedure.

How is Liposuction different from losing weight?

Memebor of Australian College Cosmetic SurgeryThe fat cells in our body get bigger and smaller as we gain and lose weight. When we have a problem, we have too many fat cell containers in one area eg, love handles, thighs, tummy. Diet and exercise help by making the cells smaller but they are always there. Liposuction solves the problem by removing these excess cells to give a more pleasing shape. We can still make and lose fat but we can't store it in those cells because they have been permanently removed. Liposuction changes difficult shapes but it does not cure weight problems. Healthy diet and exercise remain important.
