Cost of Liposuction

Calculator being used to calculate price of Liposuction displaying “how much?”Liposuction, sometimes called body sculpture or liposculpture, is a cosmetic surgery that can remove unwanted fat deposits from your body. It’s a procedure that is in high demand, and can change the way that you view your body.

The procedure, sometimes known as lipoplasty or suction-assisted lipectomy, uses a saline solution to loosen extra fat molecules, which can then be removed by suction. The procedure requires only a localised anesthesia, and is best performed in a day surgery.

But what does a liposuction procedure truly cost?

Cost of Liposuction

The cost of a liposuction procedure generally depend on how many regions of the body are to be treated. For example, if you have localised fat deposits in one area that you would like to remove, the cost will be lower than if you have multiple areas of your body to address.  Typically the costs starts at $4,500 and can increase to $8,600 depending on the complexity of the area to be treated.

These costs can be divided into several different categories to help you understand the true cost of the procedure:

  •  Hospital costs

The liposuction procedure requires a single day’s stay in our day surgery.  There is no need for an overnight stay in a hospital which saves you hundreds of dollars.

  •  Anaesthesia costs

Your procedure only requires localised anaesthesia and sedation, this portion of your total costs may be relatively small.

  •  Surgeon and Assistant Surgeon costs

Surgeon fees generally include the majority of the cost of a liposuction procedure, and often include a number of follow-up visits as well. This portion of the fee will pay for the salary, equipment, insurance, and other costs required by the surgeon. Make sure you find a properly qualified and licensed surgeon before committing to an operation.

Does Insurance Cover the Cost of Liposuction?

Generally not. Medicare and health insurance only cover the cost of medically-necessary procedures. Cosmetic procedures like liposuction do not fall into this category, which means you generally have to pay for the costs of liposuction out-of-pocket.
